Disappointing ...
User: Raymond Six, Apr 10, 2008
Pros: Easy installation, rotates for data usage, adjustable angle to cut reflection/glare
Cons: Hard keys dont work, phone rattles, stylus falls out
Having been a long-time Nokia phone and car-kit user, maybe my expectations are too high. All I really wanted was something to mount the phone in (a cradle), and the ability to have it charge. If it had built-in speaker/MIC capabilties, thats cool - but the phones spearkphone would have been fine too.

While the phone is in this cradle:

1 - None of the hard keys (front-panel, side, etc.) operate. This particularly annoying since I would like to press the "phone" hard key on the front to initiate a call - maybe?

2- The stylus holder is WAY too large a diameter for either the stylus that comes with the phone, or the stylus that comes with the cradle (which is actually from a Treo). Consequently, it rattles around, and if you rotate the cradle for data/keyboard access, it will fall out. It would be nice if it was a smaller diameter to snug-fit the phone stylus, or the stylus that comes with it, or ship with a stylus that does fit snugly.

3 - Any nearby eletrical interference causes clicking and other noises coming from the speakers. Im guessing this is due to lack of shielding around the speakers.

4 - I find it difficult to get the tilt into the cradle. There always seems to be some jugling and maneuvering to get it in, and onto the USB-type connector. Ironically, my friend has the equivelant Sprint model - which slips right in. Maybe this has to do with the cradle being designed to accomodate phones with an extra protective case on them?

5 - Rattling, lots of rattling. From the stylus in particular, but also the whole thing. Its not the mounting either. I tossed-out the suction-cup thing and mounted to a "Pro-Fit" brand plate that comes off my Volvos dashboard. The part that does the tilt/swivel/rotate is just too loose - but there doesnt seem to be a way to tighten it. Also, as noted above, the phone seems a little small for the cradle, providing lots of room to rattle around.

Take-aways:

1 - Im going to try buying a hard case for my phone of the same brand as the cradle - to see if that makes it easier to get the phone in nicely and stay snugly.

2 - Im going to try to find something else to use for a stylus.

3 - If I cant get the front-panel keys to work while plugged into the cradle, Im going to have to scrap the whole thing.
